PeopleWords can also be the online platform of your translation business and it's free. If you proceed with PeopleWords invitation, there will be no charge, neither for you nor for your customer. This document indicates how your PayPal account should be configured in order to be able to collect online payments.

This document does not apply to regular customers. This document only applies to translator that wants to send PeopleWords job invitation. It is important to complete each one of those 6 steps before sending a customer invitation. If you cannot manage to complete one or more of those steps, please contact us. We can provide additional technical assistance.

  • 1) Create a PayPal account: If you do not already have a PayPal account, please go to the PayPal website, and create an account. It's free and does not require more than an e-mail address. The online payments of your customers will be collected through this account.
  • 2) Use the same e-mail address for PayPal and PeopleWords: Your PeopleWords profile e-mail and your PayPal account e-mail must be the same. Please note that your PayPal account can be associated to multiple e-mail addresses.
  • 3) Upgrade to a Premium or Business account: If your PayPal account is a Personal account, you will need to upgrade this account to a Premium or Business status. Upgrading your account is a free service offered by PayPal. This upgrade is required in order to get access to certain features that are disabled in the personal account.
  • 4) The PayPal account language must match your customer language: Indeed, your PayPal account will send confirmation e-mails after each customer payment. Those e-mails will be sent in the language of your PayPal account. If your customers speak English then your PayPal account must be configured in English. Please log into your PayPal account, then go Profile, click on Language preference and finally select English (or the language that fits your customer needs).
  • 5) Change the account encoding to UTF-8: PayPal.com servers will actually communicate with PeopleWords.com to send payment notifications. Those notifications need to be encoded in UTF-8 in order to be processed by PeopleWords. Please log into your PayPal account, then go to Profile, click on Language Encoding and then click on Other options, finally select UTF-8 within the long list of available encodings.
  • 6) Define the PayPal notification URL: Your PayPal account can send an automated notification each time you receive a payment. This automated notification is used by PeopleWords to be aware if you've been paid or not for a job. Please log into your PayPal account, then go to Profile, then click on Instant Payment Notification Preferences (IPN), and then click on the Edit. Within the Edit form, choose Enable IPN and indicates http://www.peoplewords.com/PayPalIPN.aspx as your IPN URL (please cut-and-paste this URL rather than retype it, in order to avoid typing mistakes).
